FreePPP
Configuration
for DialUp Net Internet Services
If you already
have FreePPP installed, you're set. (Otherwise, download
FreePPP. After you download and install, you will be asked if
you want to configure MacTCP or Open Transport... choose yes and
follow the appropriate instructions.)
You must open the
FreePPP folder and double-click on FreePPP setup. You'll be
presented with this screen.

Check the checkbox
next to Allow applications to open connection. You can
also check the Disconnect... option as well and enter the
number of menutes your internet connection is idle before the
compouter will disconnect you. Then choose [Modem Setup...].

From
here, you can configure your modem. You can turn the volume on
or off by selecting Modem speaker on while connecting.
Be sure to select Hangup on disconnect, as well as AutoDetect
init string. Choose [OK]. You'll be back at
the first screen. Choose the Accounts tab (in the
middle of the window). You'll see this:

Now,
you should see a screen like this, but your connection might be
named "untitled." Click the connection and
choose [Edit...]. You'll see this:

Type
"DialUp Net" in the Server Name: box. Enter
your local access number under Phone Number:. If you do not have a number, you can
connect via one of these access numbers listed below initially so
that you can find your local access number. You may incur
long distance charges using one of these access numbers.
DialUp Net is not responsible for these charges. Be sure
and return to this screen later to update your number. We'll
tell you how.

Next
to User name:, enter "dn/" followed by your login ID you chose when you signed
up for service. Then enter your password in the next block.
Remember, both your username and password are CaSe-SeNsItIvE.
Click on the Connection tab at the top.

Next to Port Speed, choose the
appropriate connection speed. If you're using a 56k modem,
choose "57,600". For Flow Control, choose
"CTS only". Click [OK].
If you have configured Open Transport
or MacTCP, you're finished. Just reboot your Mac and you
should be ready to surf. You can connect by choosing Connect
from the FreePPP menu or by starting your internet browser. If
you have any problems or questions, contact us.
If you still need to set up Open
Transport or MacTCP, please do so before trying to use your internet
connection.
