Configuring Windows NT 4 for DialUp Net Connectivity

Microsoft Windows NT4.0 includes components to dial-up to the Internet via a PPP session. The process uses a software component called Remote Access Service (RAS), the equivalent of Dial-Up Networking.

This document has four sections which you can follow to configure NT to connect to DialUp Net:

Installing RAS
Adding DialUp Net to the Phonebook
Configuring your DialUp Net Internet Services Connection
Logging in to DialUp Net

The first step is to ensure that RAS is installed. (This process might vary if your computer is connected to a local area network (LAN). Please contact your network system administrator for help or for more information). If you already have DUN installed proceed to the section Adding DialUp Net to the Phonebook.

Installing RAS

To install RAS you will need your Windows NT 4.0 installation software.

You've now successfully installed DUN and Remote Access Service. Now you can add DialUp Net to the Phonebook.
